Stockings are one of my favorite parts of the holidays, and I love doing them with my little family! There’s so many fun gifts you can add to a stocking, and pretty much any of the smaller gifts can go in there. In this post, I’ve put together a list of perfect stocking stuffers to help you fill those stockings. I have ideas for adults and kids, too! This list has stocking stuffer ideas for everybody in the family.
I’ve also added a table of contents below to making browsing this post easier. There’s a section of stocking stuffer ideas for the whole family, a section for adult ideas, and a section for ideas perfect for kids. There really is something for everyone on here!

For the Whole Family:
Snacks & Candy
This one is first on the list because it’s the most common stocking stuffer. Snacks are perfect for stockings! Just be careful if you have dogs in the house, as my dogs have gotten into the stockings a few times in the past. I like to add these to the stockings the night before or morning of Christmas just to be safe. I know we all have our favorites, but I’ve also included some ideas below if you’re looking for some healthier options. My daughter loves anything Annie’s, so I’m definitely going to have to get her this variety pack for her stocking!
Hot Cocoa
Who doesn’t love hot cocoa! There’s the coolest ways to make hot cocoa now, like these hot cocoa bombs and spoons. There’s also a bunch of super cute holiday-shaped marshmallows that you can include with the hot cocoa. This would be the perfect gift that can be enjoyed throughout the winter!
Ornaments
Ornaments are such an easy choice for a gift in general. Since there is such a big variety, you can find something for everyone on your list. Kids can get an ornament of their favorite character, activity, or animal. This is also a good choice for kids if they have their own mini Christmas tree in the house. Adults can get ornaments of their top interest, favorite food, etc. I’d have to say, Target is one of my top places to shop for ornaments. They have such cute options and a huge variety. You can also make an ornament yourself for more of a personal, caring touch!
Gloves
Gloves are perfect for stockings too, especially with Christmas being in the middle of winter! I was happy to find some super cute gloves in the dollar section at Target that I’ll add to my daughter’s stocking. I would have included hats in this section as they’re the perfect winter gift, but they might be a little too big for a stocking.
Socks
Another small piece of clothing that’s perfect for stockings! Socks are a great stocking stuffer that I remember getting often in my stocking as a kid. If you have kids, you can get socks related to their favorite character or animal for a more personal touch.
Electronics
This could be one of the more expensive category on this list, depending on what types of electronics you go with. There’s a lot of little electronic gifts that could work as stocking stuffers. The reason why I included it is because there really is different tech gifts that could work for everyone on your list.
Books
You can find books for just about everyone on your list. The only thing to note is that they need to be small enough if you want to give them as a stocking stuffer. A lot of books for children are small enough, and there are some smaller books out there for adults too.
Gift Cards
Gift cards are another obvious choice. They’re a nice option so that the recipient can get what they want, rather than you having to guess what they’d want. This is really good for teenagers, as they can be somewhat hard to shop for. I was surprised to find out that there are gift cards for certain video games that can be used to buy things in the game. Parents who have recently had a baby would also really appreciate gift cards for food delivery or groceries. Local businesses are a great place to get gift cards too. The options are endless!
For Adults:
Personal Care
Aside from snacks, this section is my other favorite for stocking stuffers! This year, I got my husband his favorite cologne for one of his stocking stuffers. Most of these items are so small that they’ll fit perfectly! They’re also a little more exciting than socks for me. 😅
Kitchen & Cooking Supplies
As someone with a husband who loves to cook and be in the kitchen, I’ve given him a bunch of stocking stuffers related to cooking over the years. I believe I gave an ice-cream scooper and a meat thermometer that we’ve gotten a ton of use out of. Everyone has little kitchen tools and gadgets that they’ve been needing, and I’m sure they’ll appreciate getting them in their stocking.
Candles & Home Fragrance
Candles and any type of home fragrance are another nice stocking stuffer. I do have to say, if you’re doing a breakable candle, it may be best to wrap it in something protective just to keep it from breaking. There’s lots of small candles that would fit perfectly in a stocking. In my opinion, you can never have too many candles! There’s also some personalized options, like zodiac
Coffee & Tea
There are some really nice and cute gift sets of coffee and tea that would be amazing stocking stuffers. So many people drink tea and coffee, making this a good idea for just about everyone on your list. A lot of brands have holiday varieties of teas and coffees, too.
For Kids:
Toys
Probably the most obvious on this list for kids, smaller toys are perfect stocking stuffers. This could be a fun surprise too since it won’t be under the tree with the other gifts. I like to put any small toys that’ll fit our two-year-old’s stocking. There’s not a lot of other stocking stuffers that are good options for toddlers, so this way they can still have a full stocking like everyone else.
Arts & Crafts Supplies
This is another thing I’m definitely adding to my daughter’s stocking this year. She’s obsessed with coloring, and I know she could really use some new crayons. There’s lots of ideas for this depending on what crafts your child likes to do. Most are pretty small too, making them the perfect stocking stuffer.
Games
This is another category of stocking stuffers that could be more expensive depending which type of game you get. Video games may be better as a gift under the tree, but could still work as a stocking stuffer. Card games and other small games are perfect for stockings, though, especially for kids!
Personal Care
Even though I had a category of personal care for adults above, I still had to include it in the kid’s section too. Personal care for kids is much less complicated than it is for us adults, and there are more fun options. These types of stocking stuffers are perfect for older kids and teenagers, too!
