It’s taken me so long to find what works with my hair, and I feel like it’s still always changing! Finding products for curly hair can be so hard. Everybody’s hair is so different, and products that work for some might not work for others. I have pretty loose curls / wavy hair, and finding products that work for me has taken some time! I have a few different curl patterns in my hair, but I’d say I’m somewhere between 2B-3A. If you’re hair is somewhere in there or if you have looser curls, then these products would probably work well for you too.

Finding products for curly hair can be tough, but these 4 products are essentials for styling my curly hair! #curlyhair #haircare #hairstyles

Innersense Hair Prep Spray

Innersense is well-known for being great for curly hair. Overall, their Prep Spray is amazing and is my favorite product of theirs!

This spray works as a primer to protect hair from thermal and UV damage. It also helps your hair hold curls longer.

Innersense is such a great brand because they only use clean ingredients, and are free from a bunch of harsh chemicals (Phthalates, Ethoxylates, Sulfates, Silicones, Parabens, etc.) Their products also smell really good too,

Kinky Curly Gel

I’ve used a lot of different gels on my hair, but my favorite so far has been the Kinky Curly Custard Gel.

This gel smells so good! The jar lasts me a fairly long time even with regular use. In my opinion, gel is the most important step in getting more defined curls.

I use this on super wet hair, combing it through with my fingers. Afterwards, I scrunch my hair with an old t-shirt to get out as much moisture as I can. Then, I diffuse my hair with a hairdryer.

Black Orchid Diffuser

This Black Orchid diffuser is the one that I use on my hairdryer. As far as I know, your hairdryer isn’t as important as the diffuser you use. With diffusers, the bigger the better!

Bigger diffusers help dry your curls so much faster, whether you put your curls in your diffuser or just hover your diffuser over your hair.

This diffuser fits any hairdryer with a 1.8 inch diameter. It’s pretty wide at 6.8 inches, which is so much bigger than the diffuser that came with my hairdryer.

SheaMoisture Hair Mask

SheaMoisture is another brand for curly hair. Their Curl & Shine Hair Masque works so good!

This hair mask makes my hair so soft, makes my curls more defined, helps detangle my hair, and reduces my frizz.

It doesn’t weigh down my hair or make it feel greasy either, despite how soft it makes my hair feel.

I do have to note that a little goes a long way, and this container lasts me a long time!

In my opinion, these four products are my only essentials for styling my curly hair. The other products you use (shampoo, conditioner, dryer, etc) aren’t as important as your gel and diffuser. I’d say those two are the most important to start, followed by the SheaMoisture mask and Innersense Prep Spray.

I hope this post gave you some good recommendations for curly hair products. Eventually, I’ll have to post a tutorial of how I style my curls. Until then, feel free to comment below if you have any suggestions or other products you’d recommend, I’d love to check them out!
