Now that we are in the summer months, most of us are finding ourselves spending more time outdoors. Camping is such a great way to make awesome memories with your family and friends, especially if you have a baby or young children! In this post, I’ve put together a list of baby camping essentials.

Camping with a baby is so much fun, but it’s important to know what to bring along with you. We recently went on our first camping trip with our 6 month old, and it was a really good way to find out what to bring or what isn’t really necessary. The items featured in this post are either things I already have that I’m grateful for bringing, and items that I will definitely be purchasing before our next trip.

Babyganics Sunscreen SPF 50 – Pack of 2

I’ve been applying this Babyganics sunscreen to my baby all summer! The spray makes it a lot easier to apply, and I really like this brand for all kinds of products. Let’s face it, putting sunscreen on a child is a workout in itself, so anything to make it easier is amazing.

Sun Hat 0-6 Months

This i play sun hat is another one of my favorites, especially all year round. Babies have such sensitive eyes and skin that it’s so important to protect them from the sun. Using a sun hat like this lets them enjoy the outdoors while staying protected.

Travel Bottle Brush Set

This bottle brush set almost works better than the brush I keep at home! I like that the smaller brush comes in two sizes, and it’s perfect to just throw in a bag while packing. If you have to travel with bottles, these brushes are so handy to have.

Portable High Chair

This high chair is one of the items that I am making sure to purchase before our next trip. We currently use the Bumbo 3-in-1 seat at home (which I absolutely love), but it was not a good idea to bring it while camping for more reasons than I can explain here. All I know is that I am absolutely buying this for our next trip to make life so much easier.

VTech Audio Baby Monitor

Another item I will be purchasing is this VTech audio monitor. We camp in a trailer, but if I wanted to bring our monitor from home we’d have to run the generator 24/7. I also like to use my Apple Watch as a monitor with my phone, but that wastes my phone battery when camping. This audio monitor will be the perfect solution and so useful for us!

Sleeping Bag with Sleeves

The times we went camping when nights were colder, I was so nervous that our baby wouldn’t be warm enough. This baby sleeping bag put my mind at ease and is the best invention! It has a TOG rating of 3.5 and is recommended for 55-65 degrees. The arms are also detachable. This brand has lots of other options too for nights that aren’t so cold.

Skip Hop Portable Sound Machine

We’ve used this Skip Hop sound machine all the time since our daughter was born. Not only is it perfect for camping and travel, but we also use it for the car or naps away from home. It has different sound options and timers so that it will shut off on its own to save battery.

Dream On Me Pack and Play

If you have the room, a pack and play is a great place for your baby to sleep on nights away from home. They’re big enough to get a good use out of them and can be used for all sorts of traveling. Since we camp with a trailer, we’re lucky enough to fit a pack and play, which works perfectly for us.

Travel Bassinet

If you’re tent camping or in a space that doesn’t fit a pack and play, there are lots of different travel bassinets that would also a great alternative. This one even features a mosquito net, but there are lots of different types out there.

I hope this list of baby camping essentials has been helpful if you have an upcoming camping trip in the books. Camping with a baby is the best way to make memories with your growing families, and it can be so much fun.
