Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. I decided to take some time off blogging to enjoy the holidays with family and soak in our daughter’s first days as a 2 year old. I still can’t believe she’s two, time really flies! Her birthday was so exciting and fun to plan, especially with this theme.

If you’re planning a 2nd birthday and are wondering which themes you could use, I wrote a blog post about 2nd birthday party themes after researching so many different themes for our daughter’s birthday:
12 Themes for a Two-Year-Old Birthday Party
Aside from the holiday craziness, our daughter’s 2nd birthday is almost here! Those of you with kids understand how much work can go into planning their birthday parties. There’s so many different themes to choose from, that it can be hard to decide what to go with! After researching all…
There’s so many cute ideas, but our favorite theme for our daughter was ‘Not My 1st Rodeo’. She’s always loved horses and gets so excited when she sees them. In this post, I’m going to include all the different supplies I used for her birthday party. Pretty much all of the supplies came from Amazon, which made it so easy to put everything together. I wish I was better at taking pictures before everyone arrived because all of the details were so cute!

Decorations:

Since her party was at home with close family, we wanted to keep it pretty low-key. This made decorations a little easier and more simple. We put the string sign above right at the front door, and the balloon arch with the backdrop right behind our dining table. When it came time to do the cake, I put her at the table so she was right in front of the backdrop. This made everyone’s pictures and videos turn out super cute. The only thing I have to note is that balloon arches always take so much more time then I think! Even with that said, they still look good even if you don’t use up all of the balloons.
Tableware:

The table setting sets above made everything so easy, because they include napkins, tablecloths, cups, and even more decorations. Utensils are really the only other thing you’d need, and I really like this eco-friendly option of utensils shown above that I’ve boughten for a few different occasions now. I’m also really glad I got the cutlery organizer above, because every time we had parties in the past, I was lost on where to put utensils. I used to put them in cups which always got knocked over, or I’d lay them down on tables which didn’t look as nice to me.
Cake:

We didn’t do anything too crazy for her cake. Our favorite grocery store close to our house had a cute horse option for a sheet cake and they did a wonderful job on it. She was excited to keep the little horse figurines that went on top too. For both of her birthdays now, I’ve cut the cake with the same knife that we used to cut the cake at our wedding, which has had the sweetest sentiment!
Like I said earlier, we kept her party super simple this year. I think after her first birthday, we decided to make things a little easier this year. As a first time mom, planning a child’s birthday party is a little overwhelming and daunting at first. After doing it twice now, I can confidently say that it’s much easier than I originally thought! Going over the top with crazy decorations and tons of detail isn’t really necessary, especially at this age. Our daughter’s favorite parts about her party were seeing family, playing with the balloons, and eating cake.
If you’re planning a 2nd birthday party and are thinking about going with this theme, I hope you do because it’s super cute and so easy to find everything you need. Feel free to comment below what you thought of this post, or if you have any other ideas to add. I also hope you’re all enjoying the new year so far!
