I’m always looking for more sustainable practices throughout my home, and laundry is one of the easiest places to start! In this post, I talk about some of the changes I’ve made to make doing laundry a little more eco-friendly. Feel free to comment below what you think of this post, or if you have any suggestions that I didn’t include.

Laundry Detergent Sheets

ECOS Detergent Sheets are one of my home favorites! With a toddler at home who has sensitive skin, I always buy the hypoallergenic ones. They work and smell amazing! The hypoallergenic version also comes in a lavender & vanilla scent, or free & clear option. These sheets come in plastic-free, cardboard packaging that can easily be recycled, which takes away the need for big plastic jugs from other detergents. If you’re looking to change up your laundry habits, this is the perfect and easiest place to start.
Wool Dryer Balls

Wool dryer balls are a much better alternative to dryer sheets and fabric softener. They last much longer, and are completely chemical free. I like to add essential oils to them to add my own scent to my laundry as well. Molly’s Suds Dryer Balls are non-toxic, fragrance-free, sustainably sourced, and cruelty-free. They also help save energy since they can reduce drying time up to 30%.
Branch Basics Oxygen Boost

I love all of Branch Basics’ products for cleaning around the house, but the Oxygen Boost is definitely one of my favorites for our laundry. It works so good at getting out any stains and brightening clothes while being completely non-toxic. I’ve used it countless times with my toddlers clothes for food stains, as well as for blowout stains when she was a little baby. It also works really well at getting rid of any bad odors. A little goes a long way with this stuff, so one bag lasts me a pretty long time. Overall, Branch Basics Oxygen Boost is human safe, plant/mineral based, fragrance-free, biodegradable, non-GMO, and not tested on animals.
I hope this post has been helpful if you’re looking to make your laundry habits a little more sustainable! These three things are really the only things I use to do laundry these days. They cover everything, including detergent, drying, and stain removal. These options are much safer than other common products, and help reduce a lot of waste from doing laundry.
