Gelatin Hair Mask with Coconut Oil and Vitamin E Oil

Posted on November 18, 2018August 11, 2022 by sophiebocks

Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Yesterday was a lazy day for me and I decided to make myself a gelatin hair mask.

It’s been awhile since I’ve made a hair mask and my hair definitely needed it, its been so dry and brittle. When I’m not trying out store-bought hair masks, I like to make my own. It’s super easy to do!

This gelatin mask works great at strengthening and nourishing your hair. My hair is always much more manageable and less frizzy after I use this mask. The coconut oil and Vitamin E oil are also amazing if you’re scalp is feeling dry.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp of Gelatin
  • 1/2 Cup of Water
  • 1 Tbsp of Coconut Oil
  • 1 Pump of the Vitamin E Oil
  • 1 Tsp of Conditioner
  • A Few Drops of Essential Oils (Cinnamon & Patchouli / OPTIONAL)

First, microwave the water for 60 seconds. Then add the gelatin to the hot water and stir until the gelatin has dissolved.

Next, add the coconut oil, vitamin E oil and conditioner. Mix it until all of it has combined. Lastly, mix in your essential oils if desired. *Be careful not to put the mask on your hair if it’s still too hot, you may have to wait for the mixture to cool before you apply it to your hair.

Now all that’s left is to apply it to your dry hair and let it sit. I usually put on a shower cap and do some cleaning around the house, but however long you’d like to leave the mask on is up to you! I’d suggest at least 10 minutes.

Because gelatin is largely made up of collagen, it can be incredibly beneficial in a hair mask by providing your hair with the protein it needs. Coconut oil and vitamin E oil are also both great for providing hydration to the hair and skin.

I also like to add a little bit of conditioner, just because it helps the gelatin wash out more easily in the shower.

Here’s a picture of my hair before and after using the mask. It’s even been a day later and my hair is still so soft and shiny!

This mask always makes my hair feel so healthy and hydrated. It reduces my frizz and makes my hair more manageable. It also works great at getting rid of dandruff or dry scalp! I hope you like it! ☺️

Coconut oil is so good, but we need to be careful when using an essential oil for beauty blending. Get only trusted or organic certificate. But is quite pricey especially for me here in Singapore. Not many choice here. I need to order from the US ☹

So true! I’m sorry, that’s unfortunate that there’s limited choices for coconut oils there. 😕 I’m not sure if you use Amazon, but they sell the one I use. It is organic and it’s called Spectrum Culinary Virgin Coconut Oil. Thanks for checking out my post! ☺️
